Tips on cleaning kitchen appliances

Impress your mother-in-law this holiday with a clean kitchen. A clean kitchen will help you feel more organized and set for the new year. Take a weekend off of shopping and make room for some major kitchen cleaning. We want to share with you some tips on cleaning kitchen appliances.

Refrigerator

Your refrigerator is probably your most visited kitchen appliance. It constantly being open and filled with different foods. After a while it can also start to smell. Most kitchen odors come from dirty refrigerators. Making sure your refrigerator spotless before holiday parties is a good idea to add to your to do list. All you need is some soap, warm water, rags and extra time to spare.

Here is how you can clean it:
  1. Take out all the food before you even start cleaning.

  2. Take out all the removable parts like the shelves and drawers. You will want to soak these in warm water with dish soap to really get rid of the spills and stains.

  3. Once you have removed everything you will want to wipe clean the whole area. Again you can use dish soap and warm water. Wipe it dry with a microfiber cloth.

  4. If you want to give your refrigerator a much cleaner feel use a mix of water and vinegar in a spray bottle and use this instead of soap.

Stove

If you are an avid homecooker, your stove has been through a lot. It has probably seen its fair of spills and food crumbs. No matter how hard to your try keeping it clean is hard.Maintaining a clean stove is tough and unavoidable. A good clean stove might even motivate you to prepare more meals! Especially, during the holidays when you are hosting get togethers.

Here is how you can clean your electric, gas and glass stovetops.
Electric stoves
  1. You want to remove the burners from the stove top if they come off.

  2. Soak the burners in warm water with dish soap.

  3. Wipe down the surface with soap and warm water to remove any food.

Gas stoves
  1. Remove the grates and drip pans.

  2. Soak the grates and drip pans in warm soapy water.

  3. Wipe them dry.

  4. Clean the gas eye with a soapy cloth.

Stovetops
  1. Use a damp cloth to remove leftover food scraps

  2. To remove stubborn stains from your stovetop use a ½ cup of baking soda and one cup of hot vinegar to wipe stains.

  3. To avoid stains make sure to wipe clean spills when they occur.

Dishwasher

Keep the appliance that cleans your dishware clean! You should be cleaning your dishwasher just as often as you clean your bathroom shower or sinks. Not cleaning it will leave a foul smell in your kitchen. You also want to avoid any bacteria or mold from building up inside your dishwasher. Not to mention, all the food crumbs and stains can accumulate inside your dishwasher.

Here is how to leave it smelling squeaky clean.
  1. Fill a dishwasher-safe cup with vinegar and place it on the top rack.

  2. Run the dishwasher on the hottest setting to remove all the food while sanitizing it.
