Most modern refrigerators should be kept as close to 37 degrees Fahrenheit as possible. This temperature is ideal for most modern refrigerators because it can help you keep meats, dairy products and produce fresh without wasting energy.

Moreover, most appliance industry experts recommend setting your freezer’s inside temperature to zero degrees Fahrenheit. This temperature is ideal for a freezer because it creates a suitable environment for freezing foods safely that can help you prevent freezer burn and other unwanted food storage problems.

  • No fan noise -call for service.
  • Was the fresh food or freezer door left ajar?
  • Push door switch, make sure light is turning off when door closes.
  • Look for frost on back wall of freezer.
  • If frost is present, system has a defrost problem. Call for service.

Push in the switch in the door to see if the fan comes on. If the fan runs, the problem is just the light. Replace or tighten the bulb. If the fan does not come on, call for service.

Hearing sizzle and popping sounds when all else is quiet in the refrigerator means you are in defrost cycle and all is normal.

If ice is present on freezer floor, your defrost drain is clogged and frozen. Remove ice from freezer floor and flush drain with hot water.

Microwave and Oven Concerns

Ovens are made to last for many years with different life spans depending on manufacturer, brand, and daily use. A traditional electric or gas oven will last an average time length of 15 years. Microwave oven life spans vary depending on the original price with low-cost models lasting an average of five years and more expensive models lasting an average of 10 years.

Our customers will know that an oven is working properly when it heats or cooks food in the recommended time. A malfunctioning microwave oven will make strange noises or not operate. High-end microwave ovens may inform our customers with a code number in the timer panel that something is wrong.

It is normal for a microwave oven to have moisture condensation on the inside as food steams. This condensation is typically due to cooking foods with high moisture content. Make sure there is adequate space around an oven to allow air vents to open and close to release moisture. Never cover the oven’s interior surface with plastic wrap to make cleaning easier because this prevents moisture from escaping.

A gas oven will occasionally make clicking noises as it operates due to the ignition lighting the flame. Anyone using any type of oven should get in the habit of opening the device’s door first to make sure nothing is inside such as a casserole dish or food that could explode as it overheats. Microwave ovens frequently make clicking noises due to vents opening to assist with air circulation or timer devices operating. Electric ovens or countertop ovens have venting systems that open to allow air to circulate. Additional sounds may occur as the interior of the oven heats due to metal expansion.

Washer & Dryer Concerns

There are several different reasons a dryer might take a very long time to dry. One of the first things to check is if the lint filter on the dryer is full, if it is, this could be the issue. If the issue is not the lint filter, a professional can quickly help you diagnose the issue. The dryer might be taking a long time due to the blower wheel not being firmly attached, a coil that is defective, a felt drum seal being torn, or a door seal being worn out.

There are several different reasons for a dryer not to turn. These reasons include the belt being worn out, a malfunctioning idler pulley, a defect in the drive motor, or a defective door switch. The issue must be narrowed down to establish which part is the problem. Our professionals at ServiceOne can help you narrow down the issue and repair it for you.

An off balance washer is a very noisy inconvenience. However, if not taken care of, the off balance washer can result in serious damage to itself. One of the main reasons a washer goes off balance is when the laundry is loaded off balance. To help fix this issue, ensure laundry is loaded so that it is equally distributed.

Another reason washers go off balance is because they are not on level feet. If the washing machine can be rocked in any manner, the feet are not leveled. A professional can easily help you get your washer leveled so that the basket can spin correctly.

Dishwasher Concerns

There could be multiple problems ranging from a malfunctioning circuit board to a heating element problem. Many technicians recommend checking the filter and also the programming mechanism before addressing the other issues. If the cycle will not advance, it may mean that the water is not heated to the proper temperature. If this happens, the cycle may take longer than normal. It is best to hire a technician to test the heating element to determine if this is the problem.

Your dishwasher will need regular preventative maintenance. If a bad odor emanates from the dishwasher, you may want to use a deodorizer. Stains may need to be cleaned with detergent and water. Regular cleaning of high pressure water pump filters are recommended.

If your dishes are coming out of the dishwasher with white spots, this may mean that there’s a problem with the water temperature or the water pressure. It may also mean that it’s your detergent. If you need to remove the white spots for a temporary fix, you can add one to two cups of white distilled vinegar during the rinse cycle. Alternatively, a commercial rinse agent is recommended to temporarily eliminate the effects of hard water or a water softener can also be added as a long term fix.
