What's the symptom?
- Check the breaker, reset by turning off, on/off and on again. (If fuses used, there are 2).
- Check to see if the range is plugged in.
- Make sure the automatic timer is set to "manual", not "hold" or "auto".
- Make sure the selector and thermostat knobs are not reversed.
- On electric ranges, check bake and broil elements for blisters or cracks.
- If present - call for service.
- On gas ranges, with oven set for bake or broil, look for orange glow of ignitor. If there is no glow or no ignition within 1 minute - call for service.
- Make sure oven is allowed to preheat for 15-20 minutes. Many ovens have an audible signal informing you the oven is preheated.
- Using aluminum foil or covering racks will cause uneven baking and can damage the oven liner.
- Glass cooking pans will cook faster, reduce temperature by 25 degrees.
- If using convection oven, bake at 25 degrees less than recommended, roast at 25% less time.
Replace bulb (bulbs must be screwed in tight.) Turn circuit breaker off/on, press cancel. Reset clock on timer and to bake again. If code comes up again, need service. (Power surges can cause these errors and should correct by resetting power.) Even when indicator says self-clean is finished, oven may be too hot to open, wait an additional hour. On some models, oven release button must be pushed to unlatch door. |
