Quick Tips

What's the symptom?

  • Check circuit breaker or fuse(only 1 fuse)
  • Check door for obstruction.
  • Door needs to be closed tight to latch.
  • Check child safety buttons, there is a lockout option on some models.
  • If kitchen sink is also not draining, may need plumber.
  • Check for kink in drain hose under sink.
  • If new garbage disposal was installed, plug may not have been taken out of disposal.
  • If water streaks only, not food particles, try a teaspoon of Tang after the machine fills. Always use a rinse agent, ie.: Jet Dry.
  • Run water from kitchen faucet until water is hot before starting dishwasher. Water should be 120 degrees to dishwasher.
  • Make sure dishes are clear of spray tower that rises up in the center (on some models.)
  • Use only granulated soap-not gel. Gel may cause buildup.
  • Remember, your dishwasher is not a garbage disposal, scrape dishes clean before washing.
  • Most complaints about dishes not coming clean, are due to excessive soap use. Cut back on the amount of soap used, especially if you have a water softener.
  • Another sign of too much soap is etching of clear glasses (looks like they have been sanded). Reduce soap.
  • Check for obstruction under float, located in left bottom corner.
  • Make sure water valve (under sink) to dishwasher is on.
Caused by rusty racks. Painting racks may help stop deterioration of racks. Paint can be found at appliance parts stores.
Plastic utensil may be stuck in bottom of unit.
